The Heidelberg Room

The Balcony at the Franklin House Tavern and Restaurant is a unique spot for outdoor dining. This second story feature was added to the historic 1746 building when the original tavern was expanded in 1888. From The Balcony our guests can enjoy a view of three other historic buildings on the Square: the Gemberling-Rex House c. 1758, the Thomas R. Brendle Museum (built as a Patriotic Order of the Sons of American meeting hall c. 1909) and the First National Bank of Schaefferstown c. 1900.

Sitting beneath the Boston ferns and ceiling fans you’ll be shaded from the hot summer sun and stay dry during an unexpected shower while you try a selection from our current seasonal menu. Both the Tavern and Dining menus are available on The Balcony offering anything from the popular Crab Tower and Grilled Caesar Salad to the Foot-long Frankie and Mussels or Steamers.
